Marissa Y. Cano, M.S. Co-Chair of the Rio Grande Valley Anti Human Trafficking Taskforce
Marissa Cano was born and raised in Ft. Worth TX and moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 2002. Marissa worked in the medical field for 17 years and served as an educator for post-secondary education for nine years. At the age of 33, she began her college education and graduated from The University of Texas Pan American with a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at the age of 40. For the past six years she has been dedicated to helping the youth and families in Hidalgo/Cameron County. Currently Ms. Cano is the Regional Director of South Texas for BCFS Health and Human Services where she and her team assist foster youth, juvenile justice youth, at-risk youth, victims of domestic violence and families in the community. Marissa has a passion for helping others and is a true advocate for issues such as Human Trafficking, speaking out against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Child Abuse prevention and Suicide Awareness. Marissa is currently the Co-Chair of the Rio Grande Valley Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, Executive Advisor of the Hidalgo County Family Violence Task Force and President of Delta Tau Lambda Sorority Inc., Theta Lambda Chapter.

Rosie is the Executive Director for VSTraining EDU and has 20 years of experience in the victim services field. She is nationally accredited by the National Advocacy Credentialing Program and has a designation of Advanced Level as a Comprehensive Victim Intervention Specialist. She is the Co-Founder of the Rio Grande Valley Anti Human Trafficking Taskforce and serves in the Executive Board for the National Organization for Vicitm Assistance, the Legislative Public Policy Committee for the Texas Council on Family Violence and as a Subject Matter Expert for the Sexual Assault Survivors Taskforce of the Office of the Governor of Texas.
